In this document, you’ll find detailed guidance on what content we look for, what we prioritize, and the conditions under which we might remove content. These guidelines provide a reference for anyone who creates or submits content to daily.dev and insight into our dedication to a respectful, diverse, and valuable community.

What content are we looking for?

✅ Relevant, fresh, and up-to-date content for developers.

✅ Professional and well-produced textual or video content.

✅ Innovative, trending content that inspires developers.

✅ Content adhering to ethical publishing practices.

✅ Content from sources that publish regularly.

✅ Content from established sources with substantial published material.

✅ Content that is open about the author's affiliations.

✅ Professional and constructive content

When will we reject, ban, or remove content?

❌ Content irrelevant to developers.

❌ Content used primarily for self-promotion.

❌ Content made primarily for SEO or AI visibility (AEO, GEO): posts written to rank, to get cited by AI tools, or to earn backlinks rather than to inform developers.

❌ Content generated through programmatic SEO or methods that populate content automatically.

❌ Paid or sponsored content distributed outside our official programs. See sponsored and paid content.

❌ Non-English content.

❌ Content from inactive sources (three months or more without updates).

❌ Clickbait or misleading content that lacks substantial value.

❌ Content from sources without a publicly accessible RSS or Atom feed.

❌ Politically-oriented content.

❌ AI-generated content, automated algorithms, or content with characteristics typical of AI-generated material.

❌ Content that is illegal, explicit, offensive, or incites discrimination or violence.

❌ Content violating privacy rights or using shortened or redirected URLs.

❌ Content unsuitable for daily.dev's business reputation.

❌ Content infringing third-party rights, including copyright, trademarks, or other IP rights.

Sponsored and paid content

Paid distribution on daily.dev is only permitted through our official programs: Sponsored Content, ads, and Boost. Content in these programs is labeled as sponsored, promoted, or similar, and follows these guidelines like everything else on the platform.

Anything else that someone pays for is not allowed:

❌ Posting, commenting on, or upvoting content you were paid or otherwise compensated to promote, whether with money, free products, commission, or any other benefit. This includes posts placed by agencies, freelancers, and influencers on behalf of a client.

❌ Selling or accepting payment for placement. Squad admins and moderators can't charge to publish, approve, or pin posts, and no one may broker or resell placement in daily.dev feeds, Squads, or comments.

❌ Buying or selling engagement, such as upvotes, comments, Awards, or followers.

❌ Affiliate or referral links, and any other links that earn you a commission.

❌ Undisclosed ads presented as tutorials, news, or independent reviews.

❌ Sponsored posts from indexed sources. Articles a publication was paid to run are not eligible, whether or not they are labeled as sponsored, and we may remove them when we become aware of them.

Violations can lead to content removal, restricted submissions, and suspension of the account or Squad involved.

Company and personal blogs

Company blogs

Company blogs are not eligible as sources on daily.dev. Learn more about why we moved company sources to Squads.

To get your company's content in front of developers, choose between two kinds of Squad:

See Verified Company Squads for what a verified Squad includes. Both kinds of Squad follow these guidelines, including the rules on sponsored and paid content. Verification changes how your Squad is presented, not what you can post in it.

Personal blogs

Personal blogs are not eligible as sources either. Personal bloggers and indie content creators can create a Squad or share their posts directly with the "New Post" button.

Update regarding AI-generated content

At daily.dev, we emphasize human insight, expertise, and lived experiences in content creation. We value the unique perspectives and nuanced understanding human authors bring, which strengthens the authenticity and quality of information on our platform. AI-generated content, while advancing in quality, doesn’t meet our standard for human insight, and we prioritize human-created content to maintain genuine engagement.

Legal information

Daily Dev Ltd. does not claim ownership or copyright over any submitted content. You are responsible for everything you post or upload and for having the rights to it, including profile pictures, Squad and cover images, images in posts and comments, and any code or text you did not create yourself. Our moderation is about the quality of content and our community standards. It does not verify who owns content or clear the rights in it.

If we become aware of content that may break these guidelines or that is reported as infringing someone's rights, for example through a report or a legal notice, we may remove it and restrict future submissions from the account that posted it. Any community found in violation of these guidelines may be suspended or terminated. All platform interactions, including content publication, are governed by our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

To report content, use the Report option on the post, comment, or Squad. For copyright, trademark, or other legal takedown requests, email legal@daily.dev.
